Kinetic perimetry

The modern Goldmann Perimeter

Octopus 900

Goldmann characteristics

Enjoy the characteristics of the manual Goldmann perimeter in a modern electronic device. You can place vectors freely, and even draw them manually in the standard Goldmann sizes, I to V, and intensities, 1a to 4e. For stimulus projection, the same Goldmann cupola with the same background intensity is used for full comparability of the results.

Clinically proven

Comparable to the manual Goldmann perimeter

Several clinical studies have compared the diagnostic accuracy between a manual Goldman perimeter and the Octopus 900 kinetic and found no difference. Thus, enjoy the diagnostic accuracy of the manual Goldman perimeter in a modern device.*

Standardized operation

For consistent results between operators

Choose a fixed vector speed and standardize testing for more consistent results. In addition, variability due to operator reaction time is eliminated, as patient responses are immediately marked by pressing the response button.

Reaction time compensation

For comparable results between sessions

Patient reaction time adds variability to a kinetic examination, especially in patients with inconsistent reaction time between sessions. Octopus perimeters therefore allow measuring patient reaction time by presenting stimuli in the patient's visible area and compensate accordingly.

Normal isopters

Offers guidance to the operators

Performing kinetic perimetry requires a highly skilled examiner. To facilitate operator training, normal isopters offer guidance on where to start stimulus trajectories and how to interpret results.

Kinetic templates

For standardized clinical workflows

Standardize the workflow in your practice while remaining flexible enough to accommodate individual situations. Convert your standard protocol for kinetic examinations into a template that can be used for all your patients and utilize it as an operator-independent examination method. Adjust the template during the examination based on the symptoms and patient responses by adding or removing vectors. Alternatively, take advantage of the templates already integrated into the Octopus 900 Perimeter.

Goldmann test parameters

The Octopus 900 kinetic perimetry gives all the advantages a manual Goldmann perimeter offers and beyond. Stimulus sizes I to V and intensities 1a to 4e are defined using Goldmann type sliders. The angular velocity determines stimulus speed and both a white and red stimulus are available.

Norm isopters & coordinates

Norm isopters offer guidance on where to place vectors and on how to interpret patient responses. The dark and light bands represent 25–75% and 5–95% of healthy normals of the same age respectively. Coordinates are optionally displayed to guide vector placement.
More accurate isopters

Reaction time vectors

Reaction time vectors are placed in the patient’s visible area.  The average time between stimulus appearance and patient response is then considered the patient’s reaction time and patient responses are adapted accordingly. This better reflects the actual isopter size.
Vectors of your choice

Meridians & isopters

The kinetic perimetry on an Octopus 900 functions similarly to a drawing program. Stimulus trajectories are typically defined by drawing straight vector along, which the stimuli move at constant speed. Static points are available for spot checking. To form isopters, patient responses are connected manually or automatically.
Full Goldmann flexibility

Guided & free vectors

For full flexibility, any shape of stimulus trajectory is possible using a guided vector. For even more control, stimulus can be manually guided by using the mouse like the handle in a manual Goldmann perimeter.

Kinetic templates

Kinetic templates standardize testing while maintaining full testing flexibility to individualize whenever needed. Translate clinical testing methodology into an individual template or alternatively, benefit from available templates .
