Goldmann applanation tonometer

The gold standard to this day

Professor Goldmann's research into glaucoma led to the development of the first device for measuring intraocular pressure: the Applanation Tonometer 870. Together with Haag-Streit, it was launched in 1957, followed by the AT 900 in 1958. It has remained the gold standard ever since.

Numerous satisfied customers and patients

Durable performance

Thanks to Haag-Streit's high manufacturing precision, our tonometers provide many years of reliable performance without the need for manufacturer maintenance. Since 1957, we have sold over 100,000 tonometers, ensuring optimum diagnosis for millions of patients.

Clinically proven

Tried and tested for over 65 years

The Goldmann applanation tonometer has been tried and tested for over 65 years. Since then, over 900* studies have been published, proving the reproducibility and accuracy of the instrument.
