Haag-Streit announces global launch of Eyesi Surgical Platform 3.0
Haag-Streit is pleased to announce the global launch of the Eyesi Surgical Platform 3.0 at AAO 2026 in New Orleans, October 9-13.
Built on more than 20 years of continuous innovation, the Eyesi Surgical Simulator delivers the optimal immersive environment for maximum skill transfer for all surgeons during surgical training. Powered by a new generation of advanced complex simulations, Eyesi Surgical moves beyond basic cataract training to promote continuous improvement in the OR – without risk to patients. Delivering new software and hardware, Eyesi Surgical 3.0 supports every stage of a surgeon’s journey to surgical readiness.
True-to-life handpieces
Two new hand-operated injectors allow injections into the eye via a plunger, closely mimicking the methods used to carry out fundamental procedures such as hydrodissection, anterior chamber management with viscoelastic, and IOL implantation.
Anterior & posterior segment interface
The same interface now trains anterior and posterior segment surgery. For cataract surgery, eight incisions around the model eye’s cornea can be operated on from a temporal or superior position. For retina surgery, two pars plana ports are available. The combined patient head opens the door for future simulations, for example, pars plana anterior vitrectomy.
Longevity & ergonomics
Eyesi Surgical 3.0 offers a more redefined ergonomics experience that allows the surgeon to train not only what happens inside the eye, but also how the entire body interacts with the surgical environment. Thoughtful design features embed proper ergonomics into daily training to become habitual in the OR, such as a redesigned operating table, ergonomic foot-switch positioning, and a tiltable microscope.
Marshall Dial, Vice President, Education & Simulation Market Development, Haag-Streit Group, commented: “The new Eyesi Surgical Platform 3.0 marks a watershed moment in virtual reality surgical training. Over the past 20 years, simulation has become widely accepted for teaching novice ophthalmic surgeons foundational skills, and numerous peer-reviewed studies validate this efficacy.”
“The new platform extends these benefits to experienced surgeons through complex advanced training scenarios that support continuous improvement in surgery. In an immersive and dynamic environment, Eyesi Surgical 3.0 accelerates psychomotor, cognitive, and mindset development – helping surgeons refine advanced techniques, strengthen critical thinking, build resilience, and pursue peak performance throughout their late-stage training and well into their careers.”
Visitors to booth 707 at AAO 2026 in New Orleans, October 9 – 13, will have the opportunity to see Eyesi Surgical 3.0 following its official global launch at the meeting.
