Haag-Streit appoints Kirstin Brünjes as new Project Manager Sustainability

Haag-Streit is pleased to appoint Kirstin Brünjes in the role of Project Manager Sustainability, marking a significant step towards advancing its commitment to environmental responsibility. Kirstin will drive Haag-Streit’s sustainability goals, using four strategic pillars: climate and energy, employees, products and services, and society and value creation.

Kirstin brings over six years of experience as a sustainability specialist across various sectors. Her personal mission is to promote responsible consumption and production patterns. She is also dedicated to education in this area. Her experience gives her a strong foundation in areas such as sustainable finance, circular economy, and a deep understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the framework for tackling global sustainability challenges such as climate action, resource management or quality education.

Haag-Streit understands the unique challenges the medical industry faces in adopting eco-friendly practices. Strict regulations, high safety standards, and the generation of significant waste present notable obstacles in the healthcare sector. Despite these challenges, Haag-Streit remains committed to reducing its carbon footprint and improving supply chain sustainability. While elements of the circular economy, such as product durability and reparability, have long been part of the company’s approach, full integration of these principles across all operations is still in progress. In this role, Kirstin will assess the entire product lifecycle – from development to distribution – identifying new opportunities to enhance a circular economy and sustainability efforts within the company.

“High quality and durability, important factors for sustainability, play a primary role in Haag-Streit's products and services,” said Sebastian Hinz, Chief of Staff to the CEO, Haag-Streit Group. “Through Kirstin’s appointment, we can drive forward our dedicated focus topics to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while delivering added value, and positively impacting people’s health and wellbeing. Haag-Streit is excited to continue this journey toward a more sustainable future.”

In the broader context, the role will also involve innovative collaborations with science and academia, as well as exploring synergies within the Haag-Streit network and beyond. By driving forward measures that go beyond the production gates, Kirstin will help ensure that environmental responsibility is embedded not just within the company, but also within its wider ecosystem.
