Our annual showcase of slit lamp imaging excellence is now open for entries!

 

The Haag-Streit "Slit Lamp Imaging Competition" celebrates the best in ophthalmic imaging. Eye care professionals from around the world are invited to submit outstanding slit lamp images and videos that combine technical precision with clinical relevance.

Now in its eighth year, the competition has grown into a respected international showcase for excellence in slit lamp imaging.

Open to participants from around the world and across all experience levels, the competition celebrates the diagnostic, educational, and visual power of slit lamp imaging across a broad range of eye conditions.

Entries are evaluated on image quality, technical execution, and clinical interest by a distinguished panel of clinical and industry experts. 

If you are passionate about slit lamp imaging – whether capturing still images or videos – this competition offers an opportunity to showcase your work, gain international visibility, and join a global imaging community.

Fantastic prizes

Each year, the "Slit Lamp Imaging Competition" rewards outstanding submissions with attractive prizes, trophies, and international recognition.

 
  • First place winner (imaging):

        Prize package valued at approximately CHF 1,500 & trophy

  • First place winner (video) 

        Prize package valued at approximately CHF 1,500 & trophy

  • Second prize (imaging)

        Prize package valued at approximately CHF 1,000 & trophy

  • Third prize (imaging)

        Prize package valued at approximately CHF 750 & trophy.

In addition, the winning image will be featured in a leading ophthalmic journal.

 

Entry information

Please follow the guidelines below when preparing & submitting your images or videos. Submissions that do not comply with these requirements may be rejected by the judges.

 

1. Review the participation terms & conditions (click the button below).

2. Capture your image(s) or video(s) & prepare them for upload, noting the following:

  • Each participant may submit up to four images & two videos
  • Each file must be labeled according to the following format: Contestant last name, contestant first name, followed by the number of the image or video, e.g., DoeJohn1, DoeJohn2
  • Prepare the following information for each item that you are submitting: device used to capture each image/video, diagnosis or disease shown & descriptive title (recommended)

3. Upload your image(s) and/or video(s) using the secure upload form at the bottom of this page.

We are proud to present our prestigious judging panel. With a wealth of diverse experience, one thing all our judges have in common is the ability to spot a winning submission. 

 
  • Marc Curchod: Professional photographer with over three decades’ experience, currently practising at Swiss Visio in Lausanne
  • Jesús Conejero: Highly experienced ophthalmologist, serving the ‘Hospital de Mérida’, Mérida, Spain, as an Ocular Surface & Cornea specialist
  • Cynthia VandenHoven: Fellow of the Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society (FOPS) & international award-winning medical imaging specialist 
  • Jacqui Kenyon: Senior US Product Manager – Slit lamps & imaging, focused on diagnostic education & training
  • Marcel Meyer: Seasoned slit lamp imaging specialist with over 20 years of experience of the ophthalmology industry.

The competition timeline

Once the competition opens, you have four months to prepare & submit your entries. Follow us on social media for updates throughout the competition.

 
  • Competition opens: March 30, 2026
    Submissions can be uploaded using the secure forms below
  • Competition closes: July 30, 2026
    After the closing date, our judging panel will shortlist the best images & videos overall (our “finalists")
  • Winners announced: September 30, 2026
    The winners will be revealed on our social media channels. Good luck!
