And the winners are…

As a global leader in slit lamp imaging solutions, Haag-Streit is delighted to announce the winners of the “Slit Lamp Imaging Competition 2026.”

Our jury carefully reviewed hundreds of submissions from 25 countries to select this year’s winners in both the imaging and video categories. Each entry was judged on three key criteria: image quality, technical execution, and disease interest.

Image category – First place

Carmen Rodrigues, Augenklinik Luzerner Kantonsspital, Switzerland

The winning entry presents a striking image of a perfluorocarbon (PFC) droplet adjacent to an intraocular tube. It impressed the jury with its exceptional sharpness, technical precision, and striking visual simplicity. Carmen receives a prize package valued at CHF 1,500 and will be featured in a leading ophthalmic journal.

Image category – Second place

Utpal Sarkar, Disha Eye Hospitals, India

The second-place entry presents a floating iris cyst in the aqueous humor. It impressed the jury with the entrant's mastery of lighting techniques and the image's exceptional clarity and artistic appeal. Utpal receives a prize package valued at CHF 1,000.

Image category – Third place

Katie Lachut-Yevich, VCU Health, USA

The third-place entry presents a resorbed fibrous cataract. It impressed the jury with its remarkable clarity, intricate textures, and strong visual impact. Katie earns a prize package valued at CHF 750.

Video category – First place

Tony Thieu, Christiana Care, USA

The winning video entry presents a slit lamp examination of keratic precipitates in anterior uveitis. It impressed the jury with its precise execution, clear visualization of key clinical findings, and strong educational value. Tony receives a prize package valued at CHF 1,500.
